In celebration of Filipino American History Month (FAHM), Headliners and the Filipino American National Historical Society Santa Clara Valley Chapter (FANHS SCV) are collaborating on a limited edition shirt design. The shirt features Headliners' iconic Paperboy holding a Filipino-inspired pennant honoring Pinoytown in San Jose, California. Pinoytown stands as a testament to the profound history and cultural significance of the Filipino community in the United States. Historically, this neighborhood served as a hub for Filipino immigrants who arrived in the early 20th century, seeking livelihoods in agriculture and industry. Pinoytown was located between Heinlenville Chinatown and Japantown. It was fondly referred to as "Sixth Street" and was once a vibrant community characterized by bustling markets, businesses, and cultural institutions during the 1930s to 1960s. Although the physical landscape has changed, efforts by the community and FANHS SCV strive to preserve the memory and significance of Pinoytown. To learn more, please visit www.fanhs-scv.org.
